How to update details of tasks from .xlsx file - ms project professional 2016 RRS feed

  • Hello,

    I have made some export from redmine and now I would like to update same details of tasks from file.

    Now I have test project as below:

    And .xlsx file:

    After update I would get effect as below:

    Is this possible to do it with ms project professional 2016?

  • You can try opening the .xlsx file in Project. In the import wizard you need to create a new map so Project knows where you want the data to en up.

    If that doesn't work then you need a VBA macro.

  • I tried to do import but I have a problem - it's not working. Maybe You can give me some hint?

    Do You have a examples of some macro to resolve this case?

  • So what's not working? You must map similar fields. For example you can't map a text field to a date field (unless you have manual scheduling). If you import data that conflicts you also may not get expected results. Try manually updating your project with data in the .xlsx file and see what you get.

    A Macro can solve the problem, but each import needs a different macro depending on the data to be imported, so sample code won't help much if at all.
