INF file not valid for signing RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Came across the message 'Unfortunately, we found that some INF files in your package are not valid for signing. You can download the tool we use for testing and learn more about how to use it on MSDN.' while submitting a driver for signing. As suggested, checked the INF file with Infverif.exe tool results of which were successful. Kindly let me know how to proceed with the resolution.

  • Yeah, about that. The INF verifier tool in the current version of the WDK is known to be broken. Microsoft's advice is to try an older version of the WDK. Unfortunately, MS only allows the latest WDK for each OS version to be downloaded, so that will be difficult (which is why it is usually a good idea to save the install kit for a year or two). I don't know whether the Win 8.1 WDK INF tool will know about Universal drivers, but if there is some other type of error in your INF, it should be able to help.
