trying to make visual studio 2012 running with windows xp 32 bit

    Question

  • I have windows xp 32 bits as an operating system . I read that visual studio 2012 does not support windows xp anymore . However , I read too that there is a possibility to run visual studio 2012 in windows xp 32 bits . This by downloading visual studio 2012 update 1 and then make some changes and some configurations like it is mentioned in these both sites :

    https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/linking-applications-using-visual-studio-2012-to-run-on-windows-xp

    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13130713/how-to-compile-for-win-xp-with-visual-studio-2012

    and some others

I searched for the download page of  visual studio 2012 update 1 but I could not find it . The only available page I could find is this:

    https://www.visualstudio.com/downloads/download-visual-studio-vs#d-visual-studio-2012-update

There , only  Visual Studio 2012 Update 5

is available . So I downloaded it but it failed by showing many errors like :

    1) Blend for visual studio sdk for net 4.5 package failed

2)Blend for visual studio sdk for silverlight 5 package failed

3)Blend for visual studio add in for adobe fxg import package failed

    4) microsoft visual studio preparation 1% is not valid win 32 application

I need to run visual studio 2012 in my windows xp 32 bits . But I am stuck I need help :(

  • Sorry, you cannot run Visual Studio 2012 on Windows XP, even installation on Vista fails. You will need at least Windows 7.
Running Vista32 myself. Do not know a 'workaround'.

    With kind regards

  • Hi Platon120,

Please take a look at the system requirement of VS2012:

So i think we couldn't run the VS2012 in Windows XP system, it probably has some compatibility issues.

    Best Regrds,
