Windows 8 USB 3.0 boot -- Slow performance RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, I've installed Windows 8 to my USB 3.0 flash drive, and have purchased a new high-performance Alienware machine with USB 3.0 (strictly for this purpose). When I load my Windows 8 from my flash drive, the performance is terribly slow. I've double checked to make sure I've plugged it into my USB 3.0 port, and I've also enabled write caching, but still only see an average of ~107kbps transfer speeds. It takes forever for me to load a simple browser, and it takes 10x longer to actually download something due to the incredibly slow write speed. I need to figure out this performance issue, as this will be a major selling point for me to my client.

    Thank you.
