Change New Item, Edit Item URL RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there any way to change the URL that the buttons for the New Form, or Edit form. Basically I need it to pass on a variable used in filtering for a list (this is a basic list view no changing so it would be nice not to have to do it programmatically but if its the only way ...

    E.g. go from http://site/sharepointsite/library/allitems.aspx?FilterField1=[fieldname]&FilterValue1=[somevalue] to ../newForm.aspx?[fieldname]=[fieldvalue]

    Thanks for any help

  • Yes this is possible using Sharepoint designer.

Open the site in Sharepoint Designer

Navigate to the list from the left hand navigation

On the List,  from where you want to modify the Button URL  - Perfom Right Click Edit Properties

Go to Supporting Files Tab - From there you can click on Browse and set the page\url you want.

  • Hi Nymain,

Can you please provide more details about what you are trying to accomplish? It looks like you have a filter applied to the AllItems view. I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish with the New Form URL.

    Best wishes,

    Eric
