ERROR Extract Data from External Table Data Lake Analytics (If DataType = Money from Azure Sql server)

    Question

  • Hi,

I try to Extract data from External Table (Data Lake Analytics) but have ERROR Extract Data from External Table if data type from Sql server = money

I Can Create External Table from Data Lake Analytics use Column Datatype = Decimal point to Sql server Column DataType = money but cannot Extract Data.

[DataType Money (from Azure Sql server) ] -> [Datatype Decimal (External Table Data Lake Analytics) ] -> **Extract data ** ERROR.

    Error Description :
Type conversion from the used SQL data type is not supported. Column name in SQL Server: Cost, source SQL type: System.Decimal, target U-SQL type: Decimal

Please tell me How to fix it?.

  • Thank you for reporting this issue.

This is a defect that will be fixed in GA timeframe... To workaround this problem, one can create a view in SQL DB and convert money data into decimal, and then access that view from U-SQL side (through external table).

as mentioned, this will be fixed in GA timeframe, and above workaround will not be needed anymore...

Please let us know if above does not resolve the problem, or if you need more info,

    Igor
