The features of the final version have not yet been released, but it's almost guaranteed that you will also be able to use the mouse and keyboard while in the Metro screen.

Yes, you can use the mouse and keyboard while in the Metro screen.
Typing with the keyboard searches for programs, and you can use keyboard shortcuts.
You can use the mouse to click on programs, and scroll the Metro screen.

Yes you absolutely will be able to use the keyboard/mouse combination in the Metro screen. And hopefully it'll work better than the current slightly clunky implementation in the dev preview.
