RuleEngine in System.Workflow.Activities.Rules 4.5.1 is native to 4.5.1 (or interop activity is used) ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to use rule engine from System.Workflow.Activities.Rules dll in 4.5.1

Can somebody confirm that RuleEngine is natively supported in .Net 4.5.1.?

I was told by somebody that MSFT stopped supporting RuleEngine after 3.5 and any use of System.Workflow.Activities.Rules will  use interop activity in between to adapt 3.5 versions into 4.5 (which may cause performance problem).

  • HI -PPT,

    Welcome to workflow forum.

RuleEngine is used to perform RuleSet evaluation in .net framework 4.5, if you want to use RuleEngine in System.Workflow.Activities.Rules, check out https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.workflow.activities.rules(v=vs.110).aspx  for further information.    Regards

    Thanks for your feedback.

Activities created using .NET Framework 3.0 or .NET Framework 3.5 can be used in a .NET Framework 4.5 workflow by using the Interop activity.  But this API is now obsolete in .net framework 4.5.

    Hope it helps.

Does it use  interop activity in between to adapt 3.5 versions into 4.5. or rule engine is native to 4.5 ?
