How to get the VirtualDiskResiliencyType for a virtual disk in Windows Server 2012 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have this scenario, where I try to avoid, if a Storage Pool in Windows server 2012 has 2 or more physical disks and I create a virtual disk from that storage pool and format it with ReFS or Ntfs and I specify the storage Layout as Mirrored. I try to avoid mirrored virtual disks.

I see that if I use the WMI command in PowerShell

    Get-WmiObject -Namespace "root/Microsoft/Windows/Storage" -Class MSFT_VirtualDisk

I see the properties for my virtual disk, and one of them is called:

    ResiliencySettingName - > Mirror.

If I create a VirtualDisk and specify Simple as storage layout I get this property as

    ResiliencySettingName - > Mirror.

    I see here.

There is a VirtualDiskResiliencyType as a private property of a disk if I am not right but I cannot seem to find how can I query that.

I tried and still am trying to avoid using WMI. Is there any way to get this property for a disk ?

    Thanks.
