How does know Platform builder know my usb driver when I select usb serial for NK.bin downloading? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello.

I have one question for usb serial option when selecting usb option for 'Download' and 'Transport' at 'Target Device Connectivity Options'.

I completed some routine related to usb serial function of eboot and succeeded in booting my board with this eboot.

And I succeeded in install the device driver for my board at my develop PC.

But my platform builder does not try to access to my board's usb End ports.

I guess my platform builder does not access to my device driver.

How does know Platform builder know my usb driver for my winCE board's usb when I select usb serial for NK.bin downloading?

Thank you  for reading my question.

  • Your device has to report the VID/PID and descriptors so it can use the standard "Microsoft Serial" USB driver on your PC. That's what PB uses, you can't create your own driver on the PC and set PB to use that instead of the standard Microsoft one.

A better way may be to use RNDIS as USB transport. That way PB sees your device as a standard Ethernet connection (even though the physical medium is USB) and you will have no problem getting PB to download to  your device.
