Using Direct Compute on multiple graphic cards RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm trying to use Direct Compute on a secondary graphics card. But DirectX can not identify the graphics card when there is no monitor attached to it. By identifying I mean calling EnumAdapters on IDXGIFactory. Therefore I can not use the adapter in D3D11CreateDevice.

Is there any way to overcome this issue?

    Thanks,

  • Adnan,

I apologize for the time that has passed between your question and this answer. The engineers who moderate this forum generally do not work with Direct-X. I did ask that someone answer you last month but nobody responded.

Today I took a more aggressive tact to get you an answer, which once you read it you can understand why its take this long. The answer is:

    • ...there’s no workaround for this release of Windows but that the Windows team is aware of the limitation and will try to fix it in future releases
