How to connect Azure Managed Instance in Azure Linked service RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to make the "Managed Instance" as destination in Azure Data Factory(copy data). But, I couldn't see any option to select "Managed Instance" in Linked service.

I tried selecting "Azure SQL Database" and entered the managed instance credentials, obviously it didn't work. Is there a workaround for this?

Is there a way to make managed instance as my data store ?

  • Is that an azure sql database under vnet? If so, you need install a selfhosted IR to access your managed instance.

  • But in "New Linked Service" tab, there is no option to select 'Managed Instance". Because only after choosing it we will be asked to install IR.

  • I think you could just try "Azure SQL Database". Input the correct database name, server name and credentials. And install/choose an IR  in "Connect via integration runtime" field.

If you hit any error when testing connection, please share the screenshot and error message.
