Adding Local Events RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi,

I really love the fact that Bing maps supports local events. I have a customer who would like to integrate local events into a new app we are creating. This is a rather silly question, but how trivial can the local event be? Let's say theirs an event and a certain set of paths through a park within town will be closed. I realize there is no way Bing will know this, but is it possible to inform Bing, say by a city admin, of something like this whereby the Bing API would then serve up this info? Currently we are looking into storing this data locally, then merging it with Bing data on the fly. ANY guidance would be great!!!

  • If you want to use your data to alter the routing algorithms in Bing Maps then that's not really an option. The Bing Maps team do alter the routing engine when significant changes occur (i.e. a bridge is out).
