  • SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 4 (KB246335) will not install and have tried to download and install in safe mode but still not working, suggestions?

    The installation is failing because of lack permissions on the Registry as evident from the below entries.

    Make sure the account with which you are trying to install the hotfix has sufficient privileges on the system. Can you please try running the Installer "As Administrator" ?

    Can you even try rename the PendingFileRenameOperations and try installing the hotfix ?

    systemPendingFileRenameOperations Stores the names of files to be renamed when the system restarts.Windows stores the information on locked files that need to be renamed or deleted at startup .

    in

  • Downloaded file - SQLServer2005SP4-KB2463332-x86-ENU.exe

    Did you use the above service pack file to upgrade your SQL Server 2005 instance? If so, you probably used the incorrect installation file. SQL Server 2005 SP4 is used for upgrade non-express edition of SQL Server 2005; To upgrade an instance of SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (also including with Tools, with Advanced Services), please use SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP4 instead.
