Is it possible to use a remote Application Directory RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've noticed that the reference to my application manifiest in the deployment manifest is always a relative path.  Is it possible to use a URL path instead?  For example, the codebase property for the application manifest is "testapp_1_0_0_1\testapp.exe.manifest".  Can I change that to http://localhost/testapp/testapp_1_0_0_1/testapp.exe.manifest?  I've tried to manually update the file and resign it, but I get a "different security zones" error.

  • No, you can't do that. What are you trying to accomplish?

  • Because of the way things are set up at our business, we want to host the applications files in a separate location.  Keeping the deployment and application manifest files together is possible but it would make things easier for me if I could separate them.  I just wondered if it was possible, as in my initial testing I was not able to.  Thanks for the response.
