EWS: Connection did not succeed RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using the following code:

                var ews = new Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ExchangeService(version);
                ews.Credentials = new WebCredentials(Settings.Default.Login, Settings.Default.Password);
                ews.Url = new Uri(Settings.Default.EWSAddress);
                var items = ews.FindItems(WellKnownFolderName.Inbox, new ItemView(10));

    And got the following error:

    "Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ServiceResponseException: Connection did not succeed. Please Try again later"

    What could be a reason of a such error?

    Also, I try to firure out how to get info about EWS VirtualDirectory settings. Exchange has a pair of cmdlets

    Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory

    Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory

    I want to know settings I have set before with  Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory. For example, I want to know if windows authentication true or false. How can I achieve this by using Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory or any other command?

  • Are the Settings values correct?  Try hard-coding them, instead.  if you are sure they are correct, you will then need to have a look at the server's IIS log file to see what happened when you tried to connect.

    If you use

    Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory | fl

    you will see the authentication settings listed.
