Microsoft Report Viewer Redistributable 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Will there be a new version of the Microsoft Report Viewer Redistributable 2008 now that SQL Server 2008 is RTM? Or is the Viewer control independent of the final version of SQL RS 2008?

    Thanks,
    Chris

  • The existing report viewer control can be used against SQL Server 2008 in server mode.  The controls won't be able to take advantage of all of the new functionality in SQL 2008, such as the on demand processing engine, but existing reports will display just fine.

We will be releasing an updated version of the report viewer control that takes advantage of the improvements in SQL 2008 as well as including many of those changes in local mode.  But this control is not yet complete and therefore, unfortunately, couldn't be made available with the SQL Server 2008 release.
