DSM development- FriendlyName attribute is not getting populating properly RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I am developing a DSM module for Multipathing in Windows for an array. I have done development after following Windows MPIO framework. But I am facing a issue in disk device name which is shown for disk in  Device manager. Like for Multipath disk the naming convention is "<VENDOR_ID> <PRODUCT_ID> Multi-Path Disk Device" e.g HITACHI OPEN-V Multi-Path Disk Device.

In my case , the disk name is shown as "<VENDOR_ID> <PRODUCT_ID" i.e. it is not being appended with "Multi-Path Disk Device" string. I have looked into code and also searched over but couldn't get much for it.

On internet, found that PnP manager creates Friendly name(the name mentioned above) when disk arrives. Now I am not able to figure out what I am missing here.

The registry I found for these attributes is:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\MPIO\Disk&Ven_<VENDOR_ID>&Prod_<PRODUCT_ID>&Rev_<SOME_NUMBER>\<DISK_NUMBER>]

Under the above mentioned key there is FriendlyName attribute which is showing the disk name that is populated in device manager.

Actually I am stuck on this. Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance
