Delete Blob Container from new Resource Manager model

    Question

  • Can anyone tell me how to delete a blob container using REST or the SDK from a storage account in the new RM deployment model?  Everything I find deals with classic Storage accounts.

    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Resource Manager (or Classic) deployment model is how the storage accounts are managed (created/updated/deleted). It has nothing to do with how the data in these storage accounts is managed. Irrespective of how a storage account is created, in order to manage data in that storage account (deleting blob container in your example), is done by using Azure Storage REST API. So you could (rather have to) use Azure SDK or Azure Storage REST API to delete a blob container from a storage account.

    Hope this helps.

  • Thanks, very helpful.

Explicitly, to manage Resource Manager storage accounts you should use:

    Microsoft.Azure.Management.Storage

To manage the blobs & containers in those (or any) storage accounts use:

    Microsoft.WindowsAzure.Storage
