how to hide Existing Connections in excel RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have an excel sheet which is connected to a SQL Server Analysis Services database. And, this xls is placed in our web application code folder. So, when we click on the link that has this xls, a pop-up shows up giving us options to allow us to "Open", "Save", "Save-As".

Is there any way to limit the options to just "Open" and disable "Save" and "Save-As". If not, is there any way to hide the connection string in excel or grey-out the "Existin Conenctions" under "Data" tab  on the menu.

All I am looking for is to secure our workbook as much as possible.

Any help much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

  • Hello Harshac,

    >>So, when we click on the link that has this xls, a pop-up shows up giving us options to allow us to "Open", "Save", "Save-As".

Where is the link? Is it a hyperlink in an excel file? I failed to find such pop-up options. Could you share a screenshot or detail about the link so we could try to reproduce your issue?

    Best Regards,

    Terry
