Is there a way to compile out a file from .vcproj for a specific solution RRS feed

  • Question

  • I run a sloution (.sln file) in Visual Studio 2008 SP1 which contains 18 .vcprojs in it.

Some of the projects are reused for different solution. Consider that there are two solutions Sol_01 and Sol_02. Sol_01 uses proj_01, proj_02, proj_03 and Sol_02 uses proj_01, proj_04 and proj_05.

In the above instance, if you see, proj_01 is used in both Sol_01 and Sol_02.

Consider that proj_01 has three files file_01, file_02 and file_03. Any changes to these files effects both the solutions.

Now my requirement is to compile out file_01 for Sol_02 alone.

Is this possible? IF yes, can anyone of you suggest me how?

    Thank you all in advance.

  • You could add the file_01, file_02 and file_03 in proj_01 files into Sol_02 as link, right click on the VS solution panel, Add > Existing Item... > Change the add button to Add as Link, then add these three files.
