Apps for Office and HTTPS RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm debugging a Word app for office. Up until now, we've run the entire solution locally (i.e. both the app and our cloud functions are run via Visual Studio) and that works fine.

However, we're getting ready to publish. So we want to switch from running everything locally to running everything online.  However, no matter where I store the app, I can't seem to post to our website and get a response via https. So far, I've tried:

    - Hosting the app locally in Visual Studio. I can post to the cloud element via http, but this brings up a warning ("This page is accessing information that is not under its control. This poses a security risk. Do you want to continue?"). If I switch to https, it doesn't work (just returns a blank screen).

    - Hosting the app in Azure, running the app from the shared folder (like this post: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/donovanf/archive/2013/01/10/introduction-to-building-apps-for-office-on-windows-azure-web-sites.aspx). With this setup, I can't post to the cloud element via either http or https. Both simply return a blank screen.

Any suggestions for how I post to the cloud from our app for office? I know that the cloud element isn't to blame because I can post to it via http or https using Poster.

    Daniel
