    hi guys#

I wanted to try out the new 3.0 release and upgrade VS 2019. As I dont see it in the dropdown options when cxreating a new project.

    I downloaded it here

    https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-core/3.0

    using the x6x installer

And when installation is done, I run dotnet --version in command prompt and it tells me I still have version 2.2

This article and others say I should go to VS and enable it, but that option (with the checkbox) is not available on my version of VS2019 16.1.2)

The version on here is 2.2

    https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download

Has anyone any solution around this or used 3.0

    many thanks

    Ehi

You need to install VS 2019 Preview as clearly openly discussed in the ASP Core 3.0 downloads page.

    https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-core/3.0

    Hi afrika,

Do you install the SDK 3.0.100-preview6-012264 windows x64 installer and upgrade your VS 2019 to v16.2 ?

There is an option in Tools -> Options ->Environment -> Preview  Features , and enables `Use previews of the .NET Core SDK`. Reopen your vs 2019.

    You could also refer to

For some reason I have VS community preview now installed, but when i try to create a new page it only gives me options for version 2.2

I tried to reinstall the x64 version 3.0 from the MS download page, and its asks if i want to repair or uninstall, meaning its already installed.

I am looking at the other options and will revert on that.

However I get a notification that my trial version will expire in 11 days, is the preview a free version or paid ?

Now install the Core 3.0 SDK.  The download can be found on the same link above.  Be sure to restart VS to pick up the new framework.

Secondly what about the issue about the subscription expiration ?

As I am advised it expires in 11 days, (is it a paid software) any advise on this ?

    Hi afrika,

It is free for community version, have you signed in your Microsoft account?

Visual Studio 2019 is generally available today and available for download.

It seems to be a vs tool/account problem, you could ask it on visual studio forum for more information if you still have problem.

    Best Regards,
