sql management studio and sql server license RRS feed

  • i have sql server 2008 license and is install, also managment studio is install.

    My developer team ask me if the can install managment studio

    My question is can they install management studio with same license from sql server 2008 standrd edition

  • If I am not getting wrong, you want to install managment studio on other machines to access SQL server.

    Yes, if you have a CAL licensing model

    No if you have CPU licensing on the server you are managing as you are licensed to access from any machine/user.

  • Yeah they can install SQL Server along with client tools. You can install with same key on multiple machines.. If it's possible you can take remote  to the client machine and you can do the installation. Just select client components in feature selection page of setup

    that's niice i see on licensing i have 11CAL's

    one more question: If i give sql iso and key to my developer team to install managment tools, can they still install sql server 2008 too, or they gone get error IF THEY TRY to install SQL server 2008 on secund machine with the same key that i use for installing sql server on first machine.
