Creating a printer driver in C# or vb.net RRS feed

  • Question

  • For a project I am currently working on, I need to develop a virtual printer driver, which has the function of sending a document that is printed to it to an online webservice.

Does anyone have experience in creating such functionality?

  • If you're talking a kernel mode driver then you can't use .NET (C# or VB.NET) for it.  You can, as of recently, start using C++ but most kernel drivers are written in C.  I'm not 100% sure if a VPD would be kernel mode or not.

Your user mode UI can be in .NET but I suspect you wouldn't have one other than for configuration of the VPD.
