  • Hi Howard

You can use the updated version .NET Framework verification tool with Windows 7 support: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2009/07/27/9850215.aspx

As for the updates for .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1, just check if the Windows updates has the following items:

for Windows Server 2008; Windows Vista:
    • Update for the .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 - Windows6.0-KB958481-x86.msu
    • Update for the .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 - Windows6.0-KB958483-x86.msu
    • Update for the .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 - NDP35SP1-KB958484-x86.exe
for Windows Server 2003; Windows XP :
    • Install the update for the .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 - NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe
    • Install the update for the .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 - NDP30SP2-KB958483-x86.exe
    • Install the update for the .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 - NDP35SP1-KB958484-x86.exe

    Thanks.

... (which I found in the comments to the walkernews.net article) provides info on how to tell what version of .NET is installed.

I still do not know, and would be very interested to have someone from MS confirm, if "version = 3.5.30729.1" is synonymous with having done the 3 updates talked about in this article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/959209 ?
