SharePoint Audience Targeting is not working with Global navigation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Team,

In SharePoint Central Administrator, we have added an Audience group with a few members and we have added this Audience group in the global navigation for a link. We have complied the Audience group as well after adding the members in the group but we are not able to see the link in global navigation to which we have assigned the Audience group.

Please suggest any process which is required to compile the audience group to get the link visible.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi

What kind of link? Is it a SharePoint object? If so, please check if the audience users have permission for that.

  • Hi Priyanka,

Only the users who are in Audience and have permission on the navigation link at the same time can see the link, so you need to grant the users at least read permission on the link.

    Eg:

If user have permissions to see the link , but the user is not in the audience, or if user is in the audience , but the user is not have permission to see the link. In both situation, the user cannot see the navigation link.

If the user have permissions to see the link , and the user is in the audience. Then the user can see the navigation link.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi

I assume you set the right group then the link should be seen.

Please do a test. Remove the audience and check whether user can see it.

Then add the user to the group and set audience to this group. Check whether the user can see it still.

  • Hi Priyanka,

Do as Justin said, remove the audience and check whether users can see the link, if the user can see the link, make sure the user is complied in audience group.

  • Hi Priyanka,

You said that the user have full permission on the site, but the link may have unique permission. Make sure the user has at least read permission on the link.
