Sharepoint 2010 - Conditionally Hide/Show based on dropdown value (onChange) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Happy new year!

Though I see that this is not an uncommon problem, I have been unable to replicate positive results. I am not sure if this has something to do with not being able to figure out the actual dropdown id or ...

I have two fields [Type] and [Summary]. If Type = "A" then display Summary, otherwise hide it. I have gone into SPD and set the Conditional Formatting to only show if "A" and that works great ... after you save the change to "A". I would like Summary to appear if "A" is selected - i.e. onChange. If the value is "A", whether the form is saved or not, Summary should be visible. Perhaps my problem is that I think this should be a simple three or four lines of JavaScript, and most of what I am seeing is a novel ... but I have tried some of the novels and have not had any luck. I apparently need a step-by-step (dumbed down) version of what I am supposed to do.

    Thanks.
