create php app and store directly data in datalake

    Question

  • Hello everybody.

I would like to know if we could use the datalake as a database regarding php web application
Instead of using SQL Database and collect data from these DB to datalake, to store directly the data getting from the App using into the datalake ?

    Thank you :)

  • I'd be happy to help.

I think your looking for a replacement for Azure SQL DB, a relational DB used to store data from a PHP web app?

Azure Data lake is designed as a big data repository for all data types including relational data.  It's not designed as a 1:1 replacement for an operational DB like MySQL, Postgress, or SQL DB.

Can you please tell me more about why your after a replacement DB?

  • Hello Guy,

    Thank you for answer.

Instead of create a PHP app with MYSQL DB and after that, use data lake to get DATA from this DB, I would like to know if it is possible to store directly these datas directly on datalake

I mean to "remove" a level.

Current using : PHP APP + MYSQL Database -> DATA from MYSQL Database to -> DATALAKE

What I am asking for : PHP APP + DATA directly to -> DATALAKE

  • The simple answer is no.  Azure Data Lake isn't designed as a 1:1 replacement for an operational DB such as MySQL or Postgres.
