Text inside Bing Maps polygon RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi!

I'd just like to ask if it is possible to superimpose a text or data into a bing map? For example, a location's zipcode? I am already able to add colors to the polygon of each of the location's zipcode. But I was wondering if I can also place a text in that specific location/s?

Something like this is what i'm after:

    Thanks in Advance! :)

  • It is possible, however you will find that as the zoom level changes your text will likely grow bigger than your polygon. You would simply overlay a textbox on top of the map around the center of the polygon.

In the screenshot you are showing the polygon and labels are in a tile layer, which means that they were rendered as an image and cut up into tiles. When this is done the text scales as you zoom out. You can write logic to make your text in a textbox scale based on the zoom level. This would require a bit of trial and error to get the right scaling offset.
