Where can I get WEC7 update (March 2018)? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'd like to download Windows Embedded Compact 7 Monthly Update (March 2018). The page below says it is on Device Partner Center (DPC).
      https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/4095426/update-rollup-includes-a-security-update-for-windows-embedded-compact
    I have made its account and searched but nothing is found.

  • You need to request "embedded" access by using the support contact form here.

  • After the request, I got a mail for additional registeration to gain access.
    I had needed the update for TLS 1.1 and 1.2 support for schannel. Finally we have decided to use other SSL/TLS back-end like OpenSSL for several reasons. Your blog post is also interesting and helpful. Thank you.

  • Hello,

    If you have Windows Embedded Compact for Visual Studio, you can use the Check For Update option inside Visual Studio's options. Make sur you define first the Registry Key :

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Embedded Compact\8.0]
    "WeduRegistered"="1"

  • Maxime,

    But WEDU cannot be used to upgrade when you opted to install the shared source when you installed WEC7 or WEC2013.

    WEDU, it stands for Windows Embedded Doesn't Update I think, so really, DPC is the only option that works in all circumstances.

  • Hello Michel,

    From what I can find, WEDU means Windows Embedded Developer Update.

    Nevermind, what I described in my previous comment is how we have been able to get the updates. It tooks weeks before we could get the DPC access.
    I do not pretend it to be the way to go, but more a workaround for people needing those updates in short terms.
