Real price for a Windows 2012 R2 Virtual machine on Azure RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Everybody,

When you try to set up a Windows Virtual Machine on Azure, it gives you an estimated price for the virtual machine. Does it means that I need to pay for Windows Server 2012 R2 license too?

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

    Greetings from Microsoft Azure.

The estimated prices that is shown for the Virtual Machine includes Windows Server licensing fee but not sales tax. Please check the screenshot and the FAQs in the link below for more information:

  • The OS licensing price in included on the total VM cost.

But you can reduce the total VM cost if you want to resue the OS licenses fro on-premise if they are covered by SA
