.Net Framework 2.0 x86 install on windows 2003 x64 operating system RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it possible to install .Net Framework 2.0 x86 on windows 2003 x64 operating system? I am getting an error that the product is not supported on a 64-bit operating system. I have already installed framework 1.1 and set the IIS to run in 32 bit mode.

I did find an article that it is supported.

    http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa480241.aspx

Is there anything that we need to do to get it working?

    Thanks

  • Actually the correct answer per Microsoft in 64bit operating system the .NET 2.0 installs both 86x and x64, so the x86 of .NET 2.0 is in the WOW64 directory of the C drive and the 64bit is in the x64 directory.  I tried to post the reply but there was problems with this site.  I was a beta 1 tester of the Microsoft 64bits project and Win2003 is the first 64bits OS back in 2001.  The original poster just need to look for it.
