Help me get SSL working with Windows Authentication RRS feed

  • Question

    • Windows Server 2003 with local user groups
    • ASP.NET website using Windows Authentication (domain users added to local user groups and restricted via web.config)
    • Self-signed SSL certificate
    • Only windows authentication enabled in IIS

From within IIS on the server, I click on the link to browse the SSL site; I am prompted to login, and then the browser sits there spinning for a minute or two, and then nothing.

    What am I missing?

I can get the site to work fine without SSL, and I have managed to get another site on the server to use SSL (with regular anonymous auth).

  • Is it a new configured server ? Have you tried a locally created account? If it works with a local account, then there are some problems verifying the AD object (username and password). Are there any DNS problems? Do you have any errors in the event log?
