Writing with Oledb text driver? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can I use the OleDb text driver to create and populate a pipe-delimited file?

I know I can do this with a string builder, but I'm looking for a way to leverage existing code that works with VFP and Excel uses "create table" and "insert" commands.

Getting messages "Cannot modify the design of table ... It is in a read-only database."

    Thanks!

Answers

  • Yes it is possible to append rows to a character delimited text file using the Text ISAM and Jet/ACE OLEDB Provider, however; data cannot be updated or deleted as there is no primary key.
