Format of region and language values of the Tile Update URI?

    Question

  • Windows Store apps can set live tiles by setting a value for the "URI Template" under "Tile Update" within the app's manifest file. Furthermore, {region} and {language}values can be set within the URI value.

What is the format that Microsoft uses for the region and language values? Does microsoft use the Alpha-2 or the Alpha-3 country code standard codes for region? What codes are used for language?

  • However as I understand from most common Microsoft schema, Language should be something specified as a BCP-47 language tags such as "en-US" or "fr-FR".

I saw something interesting from TileUpdate:

The UriTemplate attribute must be a value URI per RFC 3986. It must be an absolute URI with only schemes of unsecure "http:" sites and secure "https:" sites permitted.

Simply search on the Internet, looks like RFC 3986 us Alpha-2 country list.

  • Hi Jaxim

From the schema I did not find any restriction for Uri Template

I will further investigate if there is more documentation for you.
