Sending mail from sqlserver 2005 RRS feed

  • Hi,
    I created a mail profile with the following details.

    Account Name                       "Test"
    EmailAddrss                          "Test@domain.com"
    DisplayName                        "Test"
    Servername                         "local smtpserver name"
    Port                                     "25"

    SMTP Authentication
    username                  "reader"
    password                   "reader"

    Note:Here the user(reader) is a Sql user with server role PUBLIC and owner on "Test" database

    When i try nto send a mail with the following script getting error

    Msg 15404, Level 16, State 10, Procedure xp_logininfo, Line 62
    Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'reader', error code 0xffff0002	
    EXEC msdb.dbo.sp_send_dbmail 
    @profile_name = 'Test', @recipients= someone@somewhere.com', @subject= 'Test-Mail', @body='Testing Pls ignore it',@body_format='html';


    Pls help me on this.

  • Your database mail profile may not have been set to public!  It needs to be public or set to private for the user (reader)that is going to access it. Also try adding reader user in the msdb database in public role.
