SQL server 2008 Enterprise to SQL Server 2012 RC0 Upgrade RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am trying to test an upgrade to SQL 2012 RC0 on a Windows 2008 server that has SQL 2008 SP4 installed.

The Upgrade Rule check fails. Seems to indicate that there is a problem with the edition.

Is it bcos the SQL 2008 is Enterprise edition and the SQL2012 RC0 is only Evaluation edition.

    Is an upgrade from SQL2005/SQl2005 Enterprise edition x64 to SQL2012 RC0 x64 possible ?

says that you can upgrade SQL 2008 SP2 Enterprise to SQL 2012 RC 0 Enterprise or BI Edition. Now, how you get hold of these editions, I don't know. Or more precisely, how you get hold of a license key to enter, I don't know.

  • Thanks for your prompt reply.

It Looks like SQL 2008 Enterprise to SQL 2012 Evaluation is not possible. We may have to wait for the RTM version to test the upgrade process.

I wish someone can confirm otherwise.
