SBS 2011 Standard Reporting - Eliminate Exchange Services Alerts RRS feed

  • Question

  • We use an outside service for email and therefore do not use exchange services in our small SBS 2011 Standard installation; however, we still get pages of alerts that are issued about these Exchange services are stopped: address book, edgesync, information store, rpc client access, throttling, and transport.  I call these "non-error error messages" since we are not running an exchange server.

    1) Can I eliminate these specific alerts since they are meaningless and clutter up my report? Maybe an "ignore specific alerts table"?

    2) Would it be beneficial to run an "idle" instance of Exchange server?  For instance it would be nice to get reports to my outside email address at, but that does not work(I may be incorrectly assumming it is an Exchange role)?
