Best Practises for Hyper-V RRS feed

    Hi All I want to know the best practise for Hyper-V

    1. What type of Windows Installation for the host? [Server Core or Ent???]

    2. What additional softwares are needed on the Host? [SMS 07 etc...]

  • That really depends on your setup. If you do not run domai ncritical systems on a hyper-v (i.e. domain controller etc.) having only server core makes most sense - less reboots required, more memory available etc.

     

    What version (Enterprise, Standard, Datacenter) may depend on what you do ON it and what your licensing is. Datacenter has unlimited image rights Wink

     

    For other software - that depends what you USE. it is more an operational issue. "Best practice" would be having SCCM (Configuration manager), SCOM (Operations Manager) and SCVMM (Virtual Machine Manager). OTOH some may simply not be needed, and you may get away with WSUS and SCVMM.
