  • Also, since you want to perform the network check at the beginning, you can consider using a customized splash screen which informs the user of the initial checking. If the network detection failed, you can choose to stop the app (or show a button to let user retry or return).

    BTw, if the internet connection requirement you mentioned is just calling some external webservice, then a simpler means to check is just make a webservice call against a simple test method against the target service endpoint. If the call failed, that means the network or the server is not available.
