Powerpoint 2010 - Missing object placeholders RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I have a Office 2010 user, who appears to all intended purposes, to have exactly the same settings as me. Developer tab enabled.

In my Powerpoint, you can see the placeholders, in this case the "Microsoft web browser".

In his case, nothing, blank. However it you are careful you can select a corner, see some faint border markers, right click and see the properties of the browser.

When his Powerpoint runs, it works fine, just like mine

    >> Does anyone know why a user will not see placeholders ?  Could it be unrelated to powerpoint, and be an IE setting ?

    Thanks

  • Hi Greg,

Thanks for posting in the MSDN Forum.

Would you please share his presentation on skydrive for further research?

    Have a good day,

    Tom

  • Tom

    I have uploaded to skydive

I have not used this before and assume you have acces to this.

My gut tells me it is nothing to do with the pptm rather some setting, and something obscure

If you run it and see the placeholder in edit mode, you will be in the same situation as me, i.,e,. placeholder visible

  • Hi Greg,

I have no permissions to get it. Would you please set it to public?

    Have a good day,

  • Hi Greg,

I tried to download your presentation, it works fine on my side. This is the screen shooting:

We are able to see the placeholder. I'm wondering whether your customer's PowerPoint have some specifical setting which leads to the strange situation which your mentioned.

    Best Regards,

    T.X.

  • T.X. I don't understand why you would think the above is correct. In edit mode you should see the placeholders.

Please involve someone else on this issue as well. Thanks

  • Hi Greg,

OK, I will involve some experts into this issue. To see whether them can solve your issue. There might be some time delay, thanks for you patience.

    Have a good day,

    Tom

  • Hi Greg,

In my PowerPoint 2010 SP1+  environment, I verified the same behavior with your file and with a new file i created from scratch. The Microsoft Web Browser image does not display - or only displays briefly; then disappears.

I've reported the scenario to the Office product team.
