Restricting the number of messages sent per second to external systme from BizTalk RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear Members,

I have a requirement in BizTalk to restrict the number of messages sent per second to external system from BizTalk.

Background: Becuase the external system is not able to handle the huge amount of data at the same time sent from BizTalk.

Is there any way by which I can set the number of messages sent from BizTalk to External system per second or any other way to this?

    Regards,

    Abhijit

  • Abhijit, Did you consider creating a dedicated Host (New host) for these 4 external system and check Throttling settings as prescribed in the documentation.

  • Hi

I would like to suggest to check Throttling setting in documentation and here is described what is throttling

you need to check outbound throttling section

In BizTalk 2010 it is in Host Settings, if you are using older version you should setup these settings in SQL directly

these settings will affect ALL your applications in the host

another way I can offer you can use delays in orchestrations, but it seems to me it is not the best solution

  • Hi Armen,

If i change the Host Settings, this will affect all the the deployed application, which we dont want.

Also out of 10 external systems we have only 4 external system those are not able to handle the load sent by BizTalk.

So changing the Host Settings is not feasible.

Also the other option using delays...I dont think this would be useful here.

    Rgds,

  • Hi Abhijit,

You could use an simple orchestration with a sequential convoy pattern and a delay shape.
