How many simultaneous connections can a single bastion host have to other VMs? RRS feed

  • Question

  • How many simultaneous connections can a single bastion host have to other VMs?

For example we have 50 VMs in a single vnet,  how many RDP sessions can we maintain at the same time?

Are there any best practices for how to do divide up the network when using multiple bastion hosts?  Having some difficulty with planning the subnets / vnets?

  • There is no ETA on when Azure Bastion will be GA. When the product is GA, the limit will be increased and will be documented.

You cannot create additional Bastion service for a VNET. As I mentioned earlier, the product is in Public preview and not recommended for Production workload and hence the limits are 25 concurrent connections as of now. This will be increases when the product becomes GA.

  • Hi,

As of today while the service is in Public Preview, Azure Bastion supports 25 concurrent connection. When the service is GA, you can see the documentation updated. Also the limits may differ when Bastion is GA.

But as of today, the limit is 25 concurrent session.

  • just confirming that Public Review is just an introduction before it is provided to everyone or this just an offering that may not be continued?  Does Public Review mean that this offering will eventually become a permanent offering?

If the Bastion can have 25 concurrent connections if this is not enough?  We have 200 servers in this VNET.   How do we create additional bastion services if we can only create one bastion subnet called "AzureBastionSubnet"?   And we cannot create additional subnets called "AzureBastionSubnet" in this VNET.
