Move Outlook Mails to Sharepoint RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Been searching around for this but don't seem to find the answer.  So, I have a mailbox with thousands of email that I would like to move to Sharepoint for archiving purposes.  Currently, these emails are organized using folders and sub-folders in Outlook 2010 (Exchange 2010).  What I need to know is how can I move these emails along with the sub-folders?  Drag and drop don't seem to work with folders.

    Thanks

  • Hi Ultragc88,

It seems that the mail folders cannot be dragged to desktop(or SharePoint connected library in Outlook) from Outlook by design.

You need to create the folder structure on the desktop as same as your mail folder in Outlook, then manually select all mails in each folder in Outlook and drag to corresponded desktop mail folder structure, then drag this desktop mail folder structure to SharePoint library (opened with Explorer), and here is an article about this you can check.

  • Thanks Daniel.  Unfortunately, we have huge number of folders and subfolders.  Manually re-creating them would be too big a task.

  • You can configure SharePoint document libraries as Outlook folders using 3rd party tool like PageLight.  Then you can Copy Emails to SharePoint by simple drag and drop.  You can also automate by using Outlook rules to move the messages to SharePoint.  You can also Save Emails to SharePoint with Metadata or only the attachments for your compliance needs

  • When I do this it appears as a post rather than an email in SharePoint.
