  • Hello,

SQL Server 2016 & 2017 are both available on Azure VMs in Standalone or Always On HA configurations.

There are several VM images in the Azure Marketplace with that have SQL Server pre-installed.

There is no limitation between Azure Stack & Azure Cloud SQL functionality.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your time and interest in Azure Stack.

If you experience any issues with Azure Stack or the current ASDK release, please feel free to contact us.

     Thanks

  • If you choose one of the SQL images running on Windows Server from the Marketplace, make sure you download "SQL IaaS Extension" as well. Deployments will fail if you don't do this. There are also Linux images with SQL 2017 (they do not support the extension and require more setup - make sure you read the text on the create page!)
