Looking into using Kinect for Home Automation RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm not sure if this is the right section for this question, but here I go.

I am looking into potentially using a Kinect for my home automation project (I'm using Voxcommando). It should be said that I am not a programmer. I was wondering if there is a program that comes with the Kinect, or one that I can download, that enables me to make my own custom gestures (without having to write any codes because, you know, I'm not a programmer) which execute particular commands. The major use I want the Kinect for is with controlling my av receivers volume.

I'm hoping to be pointed in the right direction to see if I can actually accomplish this. If I can do this I will eventually like to add gesture commands for manipulating maps and such.

    Thanks!

  • The voice-activated home control software CastleOs uses the Kinect as a microphone and, I think, as an occupancy sensor.  I don't think it interprets gestures.  Google "CastleOs" to find their site.
