  •  Can you give more details on the process and what WCF SQL adapter role in this.

  • Hi,

I simply want to start the orchestration at a predefined interval say every 3 hours, which would then poll the sql database and do it's bit. I think we can do this through external windows service to invoke the orchestration. I want to know if there is some inbuilt mechanism?

You have different options to start a process, I used to drop a file by configuring a SQL job. it will drop the start xml at predefined interval to kick the process. All you need is SQL job and make sure agent is running.

  • Are you using WCF-SQL adapter?
If so, you can have a look at these articles:
    For notification : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd788092.aspx
    For polling : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd788162.aspx

Your orchestration has to subscribe to these messages. Then it will be activated automatically, whenever it receives a notification message.
