Kinect V2, change sensor introduces instability (Windows 10) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Kinect V2 is running fine on Windows 10 PC. I then unplug the sensor from USB 3.0 port and Kinect is shown as unavailable. Next, plug in a different Kinect V2 into the USB port. This second sensor works for a few seconds, shows unavailable, returns again and so on. If swap back to original sensor instability persists. Reboot Windows and all works fine until I swap again.

Any ideas where to go from here to fix the problem and avoid having to reboot to change the peripheral?

  • Have you tried unplugging the first sensor and then plugging it back in? Is it only when you change sensors that the instability is introduced? If so, there might be a mis-match between the two sensors where they are not operating with the same firmware. I would suggest re-installing the SDK while the second sensor is plugged in, as it might need to be updated (assuming that you installed/updated the SDK when you had the first sensor attached so that it already has the latest bits).
