installing dialog filter package to image at run time RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All,

I currently have a Windows Embedded Standard 7 image installed on my test machine. I want to test the dialog filter package to see if I can hide a certain window. It seems this is a package that would be added to the answer file and the image rebuilt and installed. I have done several changes to my current image and I was wondering for the sake of time (and future reference) if it is possible to install a package on the OS at run time. i tried using DISM to load the WIM file and install the dialog filter cab that way (WinEmb-Dialog-Filter.cab), but when i run the dialog filter exe the menu and everything is missing (see pic below). Any guidance is appreciated

  • Hello althurm:

Do you put the configuration file in the right path? The configurationList.xml is located at ProgramData\Microsoft\DialogFilter\ConfigurationList.xml on the runtime image. And how to create configuration file? Please refer to following link, http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff794135(v=winembedded.60).aspx.

Turns out I did not copy all of the files that go with the executable. When copying the DialogFilterEditor.exe you have to also copy the DialogFilterEditor.exe.mui that is in the en-us folder. Oops!

Anyway I was able to make the configurationlist.xml by catching my open windows after that . Thanks
